The All-Island Innovation Programme is an InterTradeIreland funded programme established to promote and encourage innovation across the island.

For our next Innovation Lecture and Master Class of 2019, UCC are delighted to announce the visit of Professor Wim Vanhaverbeke on September 17th 2019.  Professor Vanhaverbeke has been active in research, teaching and consultancy in technology and innovation management for over 25 years and author of the influential book entitled "Managing Open Innovation in SME's". He currently is Professor of Innovation Management and Strategy at the University of Hasselt and Visiting Professor at ESADE Business School and the National University of Singapore ( https://www.wimvanhaverbeke.be/ ).

The Innovation Lecture (9.15 am-10.30am) entitled "Harnessing the power of Open Innovation: A SME's natural capability" provides an overview of our understanding of the Open Innovation literature and examines how SME's can leverage its power to compete internationally against larger competitors.  Professor Vanhaverbeke will focus in particular on the specific characteristics of open innovation in SME's and how they can manage open innovation successfully.

The Master Class session (10.45am-12.15pm) entitled "Open Innovation: Are you harnessing the correct innovation partners?" provides the opportunity for greater audience engagement.  In this interactive master class, Professor Vanhaverbeke builds on from his Innovation lecture to explore the potential collaborating partners that an SME might leverage to support innovation and the enablers/constraints that impact the success of the collaboration.  Using exemplar case studies of SME success, attendees will have the opportunity to assess the compatibility of potential collaborating partners with their internal capability to promote innovation.

.

Both events are will take place on Tuesday, September 17th 2019  in UCC's new Business Executive Education Building in Lapps Quay, Cork.  Attendance is free but registration in advance is required due to room capacity.
